Insurance Rates in Michigan
There are a variety of factors which could increase or decrease (yes, some policies do decrease!) the cost of your car insurance in Michigan. Here are just a few:
- Accidents involving property damage or bodily injury
- Your age, credit score, and if you have homeowners insurance with the same company
- Whether or not you are at fault for an accident
Back in the good old days it was a set percentage per accident. These days it is much more complicated. Companies use complex metrics and "rating variables" (which number in the hundreds) to rate your policies. So in other words a 10mph speeding ticket will not increase my policy the same as it would to your policy.
So it is very likely that your auto policy will be rated much differently than your neighbor's policy. Do yourself a favor and don't listen to the person who always seems to have the best rate and the best coverage. Chances are they don't (on both fronts). The only way to get the best rate on auto insurance in Michigan is to shop around and force the insurance companies to make their best offer to you.
